James Ard

My names is James Ard and I would like to take a minute to tell you a little about myself. I am a member of Team Hammerdog Outdoors video Team and I am 49 years old. I have been hunting most my life and hunting Whitetail deer is my passion!

I was born and raised in North Mississippi where I still reside and hunt. I retired from the Army National Guard with 24 years of service and have been working for the Mississippi Dept of Transportation for 23 years. I am married to my wife Patricia and we have two sons Adam and Ben. They both love hunting and fishing just like there Dad. I started hunting when I was 12. Deer hunting is what I love the most but I do enjoy turkey hunting also.

I have been a member of the team for about five years. The reason I joined TEAM Hammerdog was because I like what Wayne was trying to do in the sport of hunting. Hunting is a way of life for me. I hunt for enjoyment and for the food that it put on my table. I have been hunting on private and public land all my hunting life, but I hunt mostly on family owned land.

I love to bow hunt most of all but I also get the gun out when black-powder and rifle season opens, especially during the rut! I would not say that I am a trophy hunter in the terms of only trying to kill big racks, although its nice to get a big one every now and then. A doe can be a trophy to my little boy or even me. I never try to set my standards to high when it comes to taking a trophy deer.

I believe God put the animals I hunt on the earth for us to enjoy. The meat on the table taste better than the rack on the wall. Well I a man of few words so this is who I am and will always be.

My other passion outside of my family and hunting is high school football. Our local team has one of the longest winning streaks in high school football and I love to watch the games and support them.
